Education

Hello Richlands! I am a 2006 graduate of Richlands High School where I was the Vice President of my Senior class. Go Wildcats! I am also a 2011 graduate from East Carolina University. I obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education with a Health Specialist add-on. Go Pirates!

Experience

I mostly observed and taught at the elementary level. I wanted to teach high school but when I observed my first elementary class I loved it! I immediately discovered where my heart was.

I interned at Southwood Elementary in Kinston. After I graduated from ECU I became a Kindergarten assistant. I gained a whole new level of respect for other areas within education. I feel like that experience helped me to become a better overall teacher.

I started teaching P.E. at Richlands Primary in 2012. RPS was my number one choice and I am so happy to be teaching here - my HOME! The students keep me on my toes and laughing every day, and I love the enrichment team I am a part of. I am very proud to be a Richlands Primary Cub!

Bio

I was born and raised in Richlands! I attended Richlands Elementary, Trexler Middle, and Richlands High. When I was three I started ballet and tap dance. Later on I found a love for jazz and gymnastics. I also played basketball and softball for a couple of years but my real passions lead me to cheerleading. I cheered and did gymnastics for several years. I coached cheerleading at RHS 2012-2017 and it was a great experience. My teams were amazing and did an awesome job, but what I really loved was being able to mentor and become a positive influence. I made some lasting relationships that I will forever treasure.

A few fun facts about me: I married my highschool sweetheart in May 2011. We have two dogs and a one year old little girl. Our sweet Brookelynn is the light of our life! I love singing - especially country music. I have a love for photography; I take way too many pictures! I enjoy capturing memories to look back on. If I could have another home at the beach I would jump at the chance! There is nothing more relaxing than laying on the beach and reading a good book. Although I am a small town girl, I very much enjoy traveling. NYC and Nashville are a couple of my fav spots to visit, and of course any tropical location. This 2017-2018 school year I will be starting my 6th year as a P.E. teacher, and my 7th year in education. It is going to be amazing and I can't wait to meet more awesome families!
