I have tutored students since I was in high school.  I have also worked with high school students and adults with mental health needs.

I was born and raised in the very small town of Beulaville, North Carolina.  It is the town west of Richlands.  I graduated from East Duplin High School in 2003 and from the University of North Carolina Wilmington in December of 2007.  Upon graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education, I accepted a maternity leave position in kindergarten at B.F. Grady Elementary School in Duplin County.  Following that position, I was fortunate to have been hired at Richlands Primary in February of 2008 to teach a second grade class.  This year is my ninth full year teaching 2nd grade at Richlands Primary and I am very excited!

I got married on February 6, 2010 to Clay Koonce of Richlands.  We moved to a small neighborhood in Richlands shortly after.  In September 2011, we welcomed our little boy, Hudson to our family! He is the love of our lives!  He will be five in September. In April of this year, we welcomed our twin boys, Holden and Hunter. We are so very blessed!

Professional Mission Statement: As a teacher, I will encourage students to always believe in themselves, try their very best, learn from their mistakes, and never give up.
